However, there is a lot more to Walt Disney World than just the Disney Princesses, so let's learn a little about Walt Disney's greatest achievement.

Cinderella's Castle Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Everyone loves Walt Disney World in Florida. It is every child's delight to hear that his or her parents have booked a vacation there and they all have a chance to visit the Magic Kingdom, ride the rides and meet the Disney Princesses and other characters.

Walt Disney World, whose official name is Walt Disney World Resort, is located in Bay Lake and Lake Buena Vista, Florida, near Orlando and Kissimmee.

The Disney World Castle, whose real name is Cinderella's Castle, dominates Walt Disney World. It is the center of life at Walt Disney World, and everything there revolves around Cinderella's Castle.

Cinderella's Castle actually is the center of not one, but two Disney theme parks: the Walt Disney World Resort, and Tokyo Disneyland at the Tokyo Disney Resort.

Cinderella's Castle was completed in July 1971, five years after Walt Disney passed away. However, Disney himself is immortalized at the center of Walt Disney World along with his greatest creation, Mickey Mouse.

Cinderella's Castle is illuminated at night, and there are regular fireworks shows. If anything, the castle is more impressive at night than during the day.

A recorded speech by Roy O. Disney is played at Walt Disney World's closing every night. The colors of Cinderella's Castle change to reflect the classical music that plays at the closing.

Now, there is a lot more to Walt Disney World than Cinderella's Castle of course. However, it is the backdrop of countless images both of visitors and the Disney characters who inhabit Walt Disney World.

Of course, Disney characters also are known to fly now and then.

All of the Disney characters have their own spots at Walt Disney World. For instance, Rapunzel has her own tower where she can let down her hair.

Every child may meet Rapunzel and Princess Tiana at Princess Fairytale Hall. This is an attraction located in New Fantasyland inside Magic Kingdom park at Walt Disney World Resort.

One of the things that will leap out at you while visiting Walt Disney World is the colors. Everything is so colorful, and it is all framed by a typically blue sky with white puffy clouds.

Really, one of the highlights of a Walt Disney World visit is the scenery. Sure, the rides are terrific and the Disney characters are awesome, but just the pure sights of the Magic Kingdom will be lasting memories.

It is all due to one man, too: Walt Disney. He began putting Walt Disney World together with profits realized by the popular animated feature film "Mary Poppins."

Walt Disney was far along at the time of Walt Disney's passing in late 1966. It was finished by his brother Roy Disney.

Everyone has a favorite ride at Walt Disney World. When new rides come and old rides go, it always is big news.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Walt Disney World employs about 74,000 "cast members." These include the people who run the rides and sell the refreshments.

The Walt Disney World Monorail System provides free transportation at Walt Disney World and is run by Disney Transport. It is very easy to get around the park, but it does involve a lot of walking.

There are literally dozens of hotels where guests can stay within Walt Disney World. Many of these are operated by Disney itself.

Walt Disney also has four golf courses. There are two miniature golf complexes with a total of four miniature golf courses.

Epcot at Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Epcot Center technically is a separate theme park, but it basically is part of the Walt Disney World experience.

Epcot Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Epcot itself is the fourth-most-visited theme park in North America. It was inspired by Walt Disney's vision and is a center of life in the Magic Kingdom.

The Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) is a legislative mechanism allowing Disney to exercise governmental powers over Walt Disney World. So, the Disney company IS the law in Walt Disney World.

Epcot hosts a number of special events during the year. These include Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, inaugurated in 1994.

There is a special New Year's Eve countdown edition of IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth. Many people love to visit Walt Disney World on the holiday, particularly Christmas and New Year's Eve.

Alcohol is only served at special locations in Walt Disney World. If you are not at those locations, you must be content with soda or water.

There are too many rides at Walt Disney World to list and do them all justice. They are constantly changing, too, though some Walt Disney World rides seem to be eternal.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain are big favorites at Walt Disney World. But there are so many other rides, those two magnificent rides are just part of the total experience.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

As you walk around Walt Disney World, you will see all sorts of characters.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

You may not even recognize all of them - there are countless characters in the many Walt Disney animated feature films and other productions.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Walt Disney adds new characters too. For instance, the Star Wars characters only became a presence at Walt Disney World about a decade ago.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Many of the lesser-known characters at Walt Disney World are the most approachable.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

However, the Disney Princesses are usually difficult to see. People stand on line for hours for audiences with the Princesses.

Cinderella at Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

The most famous Princess of them all, of course, is Cinderella.

Cinderella at Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

But Cinderella is just one of many Princesses now. Belle from "Beauty and the Beast," for example, is extremely popular. So is Ariel the Little Mermaid. But all of the Disney Princesses have their loyal followers. Can you name the 11 current Disney Princesses? They all have a distinctive look, like the one below.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

The Princesses who are the mainstays of Walt Disney World have a lot of competition. But the Princesses truly rule Walt Disney World. Okay, here is the official list of Disney Princesses at the time of this writing:
  • Snow White
  • Aurora
  • Ariel
  • Jasmine
  • Rapunzel
  • Merida
  • Pocahontas
  • Cinderella
  • Belle
  • Tiana
  • Mulan
You will notice some key omissions to this list.
  • Elsa
  • Anna
  • Moana
  • Sofia
  • Kida
  • Nala
There are reasons these princesses are not Princesses, some of which we will get into below.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Princess Aurora is a fan favorite. She is beloved by many Disney fans. There is no question that Aurora is a Disney Princess.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Princess Aurora, of course, was the star of "Sleeping Beauty" and also is known as Briar Rose.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Anyway, you probably know the Disney Princesses better than I do.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

I'll let you identify them yourself. This is what you would have to do while walking around Walt Disney World anyway! That is half the fun.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Everyone knows who our favorite mermaid is. Hint: she's very little.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Ariel, in fact, is among the most popular Disney Princesses.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

The "Frozen" Princesses have come on strong in recent years. However, they are not official, at least not yet.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

You may have a royal audience with Anna and Elsa at Royal Sommerhus. The lines are long, though.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Everyone knows who rubbed the lamp and let the Genie out. Do you know his Princess?

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Okay, it is Jasmine. Aladdin and Jasmine have Meet-and Greets for pictures and sign autographs at the Agrabah Bazaar in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Can you name all the Disney Princesses in the picture below? I bet you can get Snow White. How good are you with the others?

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

It is rare to see five Princesses together at the same time. It only happens for special occasions.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

It also can be rare to see some of the Disney Princesses just walking around Walt Disney World. But, it does happen.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Imagine seeing Belle just walking around - without her Beast!

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Belle has starred on Broadway. Now that's stardom!

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Belle should have someone from her retinue holding that umbrella for her!

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

There are several princesses from the Disney world who many feel deserve to be official Disney Princesses but are not.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Megara from "Hercules," Esmeralda from "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," Princess Leia from "Star Wars," Princess Kida from "Atlantis: The Lost Empire," Nani Pelekai from "Lilo & Stich," Jane Porter from "Tarzan," Nancy Tremaine from "Enchanted," Alice from "Alice in Wonderland," Moana from "Moana," and Princess Melody from "The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea" are frequently mentioned. Some of these princesses are certain to become official Disney Princesses at some time in the future, but they are not official Disney Princesses as of the time of writing.

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

You probably think that Elsa and Anna from "Frozen" are official Disney Princesses. Everybody does. In fact, there was a plan to make Anna and Elsa Princesses in 2013. That was before "Frozen" was released. However, their 2012 film "Frozen" was so popular that Disney decided to shelve that idea for the time being. It is guaranteed that eventually Anna and Elsa will become official Disney Princesses. There is no question about that. Princess Kida (Kidagakash "Kida" Nedakh) of "Atlantis: The Lost Empire" had the tragic misfortune of starring in a Disney animated feature film that did not do very well. So, Kida did not become an official Disney Princess for that reason alone. But, who knows, maybe there will be a successful sequel and Kida will make the grade!

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com

Tinkerbell often comes up. Tinkerbell, sometimes spelled Tinker Bell, was an official Disney Princess for the longest time. However, Disney took Tinkerbell off the Princess roster because they wanted Tinkerbell to lead their Disney Fairies franchise. Who better to lead a list of Disney Fairies than Tinkerbell?

Walt Disney World coloring.filminspector.com
